Group of Manchester United Fans the 1958 provides a sit-in demonstration at Manchester Derby next weekend after they and Breakaway Club FC United organized a joint demonstration against the Glazers on Saturday.

The 1958 organized the largest anti-ownership demonstration since Sir Jim Ratcliffe became a co-owner when Arsenal visited Old Trafford 20 days ago, and they continued their fight seven miles away on the Broadhurst Park field of FC United on Saturday.

The Glazers takeover was the catalyst of the FCUM Foundation in 2005 and the 1958 joined them in their stand against property and the current situation around Manchester United as part of the first “United United” day in six years.

The club and the protest group belonging to fans connected during the Northern Premier League division match against Stockton Town – a solidarity show that will be followed by another demonstration during the Premier League derby next Sunday at home in Manchester City.

Steve Crompton, spokesperson of 1958, said: “I think that probably one of the most impactful (demonstrations) we have made was the sit-in, and we will direct another against the city next weekend.”

The last sit-in at Old Trafford took place in August 2023, when thousands of fans remained behind after a return victory against Nottingham Forest.

There will be millions of eyes on Manchester Derby next weekend, which will be the first match of United since the announcement of price tickets increases, including large hikes for certain senior supporters.

Chris Haymes, from the 1958 group, said: β€œWe will bring people to sit in their seats.

“Must (Manchester United Supporters Trust) has made a flash investigation and they believe that there will be around 7,000 concessions, the people of the AAP, who do not renew their subscriptions.

“So they try to the prices of their seats, so we will tell you to sit in your headquarters, stay in your seat. It is your seat that you paid. You have probably made for 50 or 60 years. After this match, we will stay in this seat.”

The pair was expressed in Broadhurst Park, where there were songs, flags and banners asking that the Glazers leave outside the ground two hours before kick -off. Ratcliffe was also the subject of an ire of fan in a match which attracted a crowd of 2,357.

A few hundred fans were joined by more inside the ground, where the president of 1958 and the president of the FCUM, Nick Boom, welcomed a Q&A.

FCUM said the 1958 were the first group of fans to officially contact them since their foundation and Boom believes that they “fight a worthy battle”, in particular to form a coalition of united groups.

“I think there is a point where many supporters feel helpless,” said Boom. β€œAt FC United, we will say that unity is strength. We are a cooperative here at FC and it is our greatest strength. It is our people.

“But I think that these guys (the 1958) who are leading with their chin at the moment, everyone is swinging on what they don’t do, but they get there.

“This is why at FC United, we looked at each other and went” do you know what, these guys deserve a certain admiration for what they do-they are courageous and, you know, we must be courageous “.

“Because some of our fans might think” why reconnect us with United, is not our battle? “But, in fact, it’s a battle for football.

“We are holding with these guys, and we are going to take the charter around this kind of key pillars of which we have spoken, affordable football, etc.”
