A Swindon business owner should lead the London Houscarks half-marathon to raise funds for a local charity.

Sean Harper, co-founder of Just for Fun Holiday Club, will take up the challenge on Sunday April 6, to collect funds for best friends, a charity that supports people through difficult times.

Mr. Harper, who previously collected funds during the publication of the London marathon in 2024, now concentrates his efforts on best friends, a cause that has a personal significance.

He said: “I run for best friends because they have done so much to support a friend and his family in the past year.

“At the start, we planned to take up this challenge together, but due to unforeseen circumstances, my friends cannot run.

“It only made me more determined to do it and contribute to such a worthy cause.”

Best friends, founded by Jeff Tucker and Carl McCulloch, provide emotional and practical support for people confronted with difficulties.

Their peer support model connects people in difficult circumstances to a “best companion” – someone who really understands what they are going through.

Carl McCulloch, co-founder of Best Cates, said: “Sean’s dedication to our cause is really inspiring.

“By increasing awareness and funds, it helps us continue to provide vital support to those who need it most.

“We are incredibly grateful and we will jam it at each stage of the path.”

Mr. Harper’s race started two years ago when he enrolled in the London marathon, motivated by the desire to find fitness after having moved away from football.

By reflecting on his experience, he described the marathon as “the best individual thing I have ever done”.

Since then, he has adopted the race as part of his lifestyle, improving both his physical health and mental well-being.

While heading the London Himmarks half-marathon for charity, Harper also signed up for the Manchester marathon only for personal success.

He said: “I was not satisfied with my time in the London marathon, so I can’t wait to improve my performance.”

Mr. Harper aims to collect £ 1,000 for best friends thanks to his participation in the half-marathon.
