The staff of coaches of the British and Irish lions were revealed with the head coach Andy Farrell unveiling a group of assistants to five men.
The quintet will operate in a fluid structure, working in collaboration to cover all aspects on the side through a 10 -game route.
The group joins Aled Walters, responsible for strength and packaging, and David Nucifora, performance manager, in basic staff to direct the trip.
The staff are mainly made up of coaches who worked under Farrell with Ireland, with an individual each from England and Scotland. Wales has no representation in the group, although Walters is Welsh and Simon Easterby is strongly anchored in the country.
Here is your guide for each assistant tour on tour:
Simon Easterby
Easterby has been Farrell No. 2 in Ireland in recent years, supervising the defense and attackers. He replaced the Lions coach during the six nations and was to do the same during the summer tour of Europe in Ireland. However, Farrell has moved to add it to the Lions staff, Easterby ready to take the lead on defensive issues.
Born in the Yorkshire and strongly integrated into Welsh rugby after playing for the Scarlets and lived in the country for many years, Easterby has been touring New Zealand as a player in 2005.
John Dalziel
The surprise member of coaches staff, Dalziel, has progressed through the Scottish structure and has supervised his attackers since 2020. He previously worked with their U20S, the team of Sevens d’Ecosse, London Scottish and Glasgow having launched his coach career at Melrose. Like Gregor Townsend, the former flanker is borders in the south of Scotland.
Dalziel is likely to be responsible for alignment, with the former Irish captain Paul O’Connell, a perhaps surprising omission of the coache team.
John FOGARTY
Jocular fog is Ireland’s scrum coach since 2020 who previously played the same role in Leinster. CappĂ© once internationally as a hooker, the 47 -year -old popular working in close collaboration with a group that should provide a number of front fronts, with Dan Sheehan, Andrew Porter and Tadhg to all potential test starters.
Fogarty’s lightness is also likely to be essential to keep the spirits high, the Irishman feeling a farrell during his unveiling – fortunately to laugh at his head coach.
Andrew goodman
Having been a semi-professional player in his native New Zealand, Goodman’s life changed when he joined Leinster during the recommendation of Joe Schmidt, now coach of the Wallabies, in 2012. Two years successful in Dublin followed before his return to the club before the 2022/23 season after starting his coach career with Tasman and the Crusaders.
In December 2023, he was confirmed as the replacement of Mike Catt as an Ireland Backs and Attack Coach, having played in a joint role during the summer tour of South Africa last year before assuming complete functions in the fall. He joined Lions staff as one of the two attack specialists, Farrell also expected a major contribution.
Richard Wigglesworth
England’s attack coach Wigglesworth has experienced a rapid increase in recent years in recent years as a player at the end of 2022 – although he is often eager to emphasize, the former half of melee began his trip from coaches while pulling on his boots. Having helped Canada at the 2019 World Cup, Wigglesworth intensified at Leicester Tigers after the appointment of Steve Barthwick as chief coach of England during the 2022/23 season before following it in the national team at the end of this campaign.
Since then, he has implemented two different attack strategies, with a heavy pressure game plan by taking England to the semi-finals of the World Cup in France and their attackers who have since been widened. A strong end to the six nations for the team, and a victory of 10 series on the Wales in particular, contributed to the inclusion in the staff. Wigglesworth was trained by Farrell for the Saracens and England.
