One of the oldest southwest golf courses has opened a newly redesigned hole.
The Kingsdown Golf Club of Wiltshire opened its first hole in the first newly redesigned hole for its annual Jock Lawrence Scratch Golfor tournament on April 16 and 17.
The overhaul had to offer a “greater protection” on the road which is parallel to the first hole.
The Fairway has been realized about 10 meters to the right, with a new bunker complex profiled on the left side.

The two bunkers who were on the left side of the green were replaced by a larger sand trap.
The president of the club, Richard Talbot, said: “We seek to protect and develop our reputation as we approach a magnificent stage in our history.
“These last six months have not only seen us rethinking our first hole, but also making improvements and modifications on four other holes, thus undertaking an important care and maintenance program on our trees through the course.”
The Jock Lawrence tournament, named after one of the best amateur golfers in Wiltshire and a former member of Kingsdown, attracts competitors from all over the southwest and further.
Places are always available in this year Jock Lawrence for senior golfers who seek to take up the challenge of the new first Kingsdown hole.
